From Seas to Sound: Patterns of Greek Migration in the 20th Century and Beyond

Greeks in Washington present an interactive exhibit tracing patterns of migration from Greece to Washington State in the 20th and 21st centuries. Highlighting myriad areas, the Museum will display maps and artifacts that exemplify not just the regions from which emigrants came, but the unique culture they brought with them and continue to pass on today. The exhibit will also highlight how patterns of migration have changed and continue to change.

Almost all Greek communities in America share their culture and raise money for their Church and other causes, by holding festivals.  They feature Greek food, but also include music, dancing, Church tours and a generally festive event.  Washington has festivals in Spokane, Tacoma, Bellingham, and two in Seattle.  This one, at the Assumption parish on Capitol Hill is held every spring where the Greeks in Washington museum stages a display of items from its archive."
