Two for the Museum
Since 2009, John and Joann Nicon have been conducting video interviews with Greeks and Greek-Americans in Washington State. With the help of many others, stories from those interviews have been shared worldwide. Now, here is a little information about John and Joann and their work with the Greek-American Historical Museum of Washington State.
Stitching Through Time
She is a devoted Seattle Mariners baseball fan. She is an accomplished seamstress. She never wears black. She enjoys a glass of wine or a vodka tonic before dinner. She never has a bad word for anyone. Clara wants to be remembered as enjoying life to the point of sharing what she has in talents, money and love with those with whom she comes in contact.
Born To Be Greek
It was the 50s. They called her Faye and she called her Theo Panagioti Nicolaou Papageorgiou “Uncle Pete.”
Spin’s Friendly Entrepreneurial Style
In the 1900s many Greeks found financial success in the food and beverage businesses. Spiro “Spin” Nicon’s entrepreneurial skills, honesty and friendly personality made him one of those Greeks in Seattle.
